| Health City Novena |
The Ministry of Health unveiled the masterplan for Health City Novena on 30th August 2013. The Health City Novena occupying 17 hectares will be Singapore largest single "all-in-one" integrated healthcare complex. Health City Novena will consist of a complete range of research, education and medical facilities.
Health City Novena will be linked to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, medical education and all public facilities. This major, highly anticipated healthcare-related space will be 600,000 sqm, expected to be completed by 2030. A total of 10 buildings will be interlinked.
This major project is jointly developed by the Ministry of Health, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and NHG will house five new facilities. Of which, one would be an expansion of Tan Tock Seng's day care and specialist outpatient services and the new National Centre for infectious disease.
Health Minister Gan Kim Yong said that this healthcare hub will channel more resources to ambulatory and intermediate care. All healthcare services and facilities such as sub-acute care, palliative care and rehabilitation will be emphasized as they facilitate the patient's transition back to the community.
Headquarters of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and the new Clinical Sciences Building will be situated in the Health City Novena. It is going to house all the medical and research facilities for students and health care professionals. The Health City Novena is built to serve our ageing population, as well as developing new generation of health care workforce.
The total bed capacity of Health City Novena is expected to increase by 12 percent for acute care and 60 percent for intermediate step down care.
